The discussion was who would fight under whos rules first and Alistair stepped up first! Alistair will fight Badr Hari at K1 Dynamite 31 december under K1 rules! Since Badr Hari challenged Alistair he sees no other option than cause another demolition and knock Badr Hari out! Both fighters agreed to fight in MMA rules early 2009!

There were previous rumors, Overeem was expected to take on Russian fighter Sergei Kharitonov in a rubber match at the above event.  Well, it’s apparently been changed, and man has it been changed for the better. Badr Hari, the former K-1 heavyweight champion, was recently disqualified for illegally stomping Remy Bonjasky at the K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 Final.  He was stripped of his title, lost all of his cash from the event, and lost a lot of respect due to it.

Alistair’s been in the spotlight too, with the whole abortion of a fight that against Cro Cop, which ended it a no-contest due to “inadvertent” knees to the groin, add to that the constant trash-talking and you’ve got a “Grade-A” asshole on your hands.  Badr and Alistair also have a strong dislike for each other.  Badr has openly stated his dislike for Mixed Martial Arts, a sport that Alistair loves competing in.  It looks like they’re meeting half-way though, Alistar will fight Badr under K-1 rules on New Years Eve, and sometime in 2009, Badr will fight Alistair under MMA rules.  Seems fair, but I have a strong belief that regardless of what happens on NYE, Badr will somehow find and excuse to get out of fighting under MMA rules…I think he’s that type of guy.  If he beats Overeem, I think he’ll say this when he’s expected to fight him on his grounds:

“I beat him once, I don’t need to do it again”

If he loses to Alistair under K-1 rules, I expect he’ll say:

“I won’t fight him under MMA rules, I’m a kickboxer not a hugger”

I’m not going to lie, I have a strong dislike for both of these guys for the above reasons, but in this case, I’ve got to hope for Alistair to smash Hari, I think if you put the two on a scale, Hari’s genuinely the bigger ass, more disrespectful, more full of himself.  I’d love to see him get dropped by an MMA fighter under Badr’s own rule-set.  I’d make my night.  This is a great, GREAT grudge match, I really hope that the fans in America can see this live.
